Bruington's Values

Like other free and historically faithful Baptists throughout the centuries, Bruington's values are:

1)  Centrality of Christ - our faith is built on God's Son, Christ Jesus our Lord.

2)  Authority of Holy Scripture - with the help of the Holy Spirit, the words of the Bible reveal our Creator.

3)  Priesthood of Believers - all Christian believers, both women and men, are ministers of the Gospel and are called to a life of ministry and                                                service.

4)  Religious Liberty - freedom of religion, freedom for religion, and freedom from religion.

5)  Separation of Church and State - From George W. Truett's famous words: 'Christ's religion needs no prop of any kind from any worldly                                                                  source.'

6)  Autonomy of the Local Church - a church is independent, democratic and interdependent with others.

7)  Believers Baptism - a person makes their own conscious decision to follow Christ and then is later Baptized.

8)  Confessions, Not Creeds - any document which requires conformity and indicates what a person must believe is a creed and should be                                                      rejected.

9)  Voluntary Connectionalism - the joining with other churches, denominations, associations, people and faith groups to bring about positive                                                     change in the world.

10)  Respect for all Persons - all persons are made in the image of God and as such, deserve our respect.
